1Who we areمن نحن

Bamboo (“Bamboo”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an AI-powered health, fitness, and nutrition application. The app is operated by Hillool OÜ, a company registered in Estonia under registry code 16212483 (the “Company”). Bamboo was previously known as Naf3.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data when you use the Bamboo mobile app and related services (together, the “Service”). It applies worldwide to everyone who uses Bamboo.

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Hillool OÜ is the data controller of your personal data.

We collect the following categories of information:

Some health and profile data — including your weight, body metrics, and food images — is considered health-related data and receives extra protection under GDPR. See Section 5.

3Food photos & AI analysisصور الطعام وتحليل الذكاء الاصطناعي

Bamboo’s core feature lets you photograph a meal so our AI can estimate its calories and nutrients. Here is exactly what happens:

• When you take or upload a food photo, the image is sent to our AI provider, OpenAI, which analyses it and returns an estimate of the food and its nutritional values.
• The photo and its results are stored in your account on our servers so you can review your history and re-use saved meals.
• We process food images on the legal basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you first use the scanning feature. You can withdraw consent at any time by stopping use of the feature and deleting stored photos.
• You can delete any food photo individually, or delete all of them by deleting your account (see Sections 8 and 9).
• AI estimates are approximate and provided for general guidance only — they are not a medical or dietetic assessment.

4How we use your informationكيف نستخدم معلوماتك

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account and authenticate sign-in;
• Provide the core features: food scanning, calorie and nutrient tracking, meal plans, recipes, progress charts, body metrics, and water reminders;
• Calculate your personalised calorie budget and targets from your profile;
• Send reminders and notifications you have enabled (meals, water, weigh-ins);
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
• Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug problems;
• Understand aggregate, anonymised usage to improve the app;
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

5Legal bases for processing (GDPR)الأسس القانونية للمعالجة (GDPR)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract — to provide the Service you sign up for (account, tracking, subscription).
• Explicit consent — for health-related data, including body metrics and food photos analysed by AI. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests — to secure the app, prevent abuse, and improve the Service using aggregated, anonymised data, in a way that does not override your rights.
• Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with the law.

6Who we share your information withمع من نشارك معلوماتك

We share data only with the service providers (“sub-processors”) needed to run Bamboo. Each is bound by contract to protect your data and use it only on our instructions.

This list covers our main providers and is not necessarily exhaustive. To operate the Service we also rely on standard supporting technologies such as content-delivery networks, security and anti-abuse tools, and error-monitoring and logging services. We may add, replace, or remove sub-processors as the app evolves; when we make a significant change we will update this policy and, where required, notify you. In all cases we use only providers that offer appropriate safeguards for your data, and we require them by contract to protect it and use it only on our instructions.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition (in which case we will notify you). We will never sell your data.

7International data transfersالنقل الدولي للبيانات

Your data is primarily hosted in the European Union (DigitalOcean, EU region). Some sub-processors, such as OpenAI and Google, may process data outside the EU, including in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure your data remains protected.

8How long we keep your dataمدة احتفاظنا ببياناتك

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data — including stored food photos — within 30 days, except where we must retain certain records to meet legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations. Aggregated, anonymised data that can no longer identify you may be kept indefinitely.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate data;
• Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”);
• Export your data in a portable format;
• Restrict or object to certain processing;
• Withdraw consent at any time, including for AI food-photo analysis;
• Lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority — in Estonia, the Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).

You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app’s Privacy Center, or by emailing us at [email protected]. We respond within the time required by law (usually one month).

10Securityالأمان

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and hosting with a reputable EU provider — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authority of any breach as required by law.

Bamboo is not intended for anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

Bamboo can optionally connect to health platforms such as Apple Health or Google Health Connect to sync data like your weight and water intake. This connection is entirely optional and off by default. When you enable it, we only read the data types you approve, and you can disconnect at any time in your device settings or the app. We do not share your data with these platforms for advertising.

13Changes to this policyتعديلات هذه السياسة

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Your continued use of Bamboo after an update means you accept the revised policy.
